In most cases, Custom Homes don’t start with a “blank sheet” where a client’s original ideas are captured. Rather, they start with ten or twelve of a builder’s stock plans from which the client chooses and then makes modifications to better meet his specific needs. This approach is efficient but has a big drawback, it doesn’t really provide a custom design. This course puts forth the idea that Architects can provide basic design services and documentation for a custom home while still maintaining their quality standards. The course examines how Architects can provide clients with a “permit set” of drawings that clearly defines the design intent while being competitively priced with a builder/draftsman plans package.
