Designing with Intelligence: The Architect’s Guide to AI from Vision to Build

Designing with Intelligence: The Architect’s Guide to AI from Vision to Build

2 HSW Credit Hours

This comprehensive continuing education course explores the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the full architectural lifecycle, from conceptual design through construction and post-occupancy evaluation. As AI rapidly reshapes the profession, architects must understand how to leverage these tools responsibly while maintaining their central role in protecting Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW).

Through a structured, real-world framework, participants will examine how AI enhances design exploration, improves coordination, reduces risk, and optimizes building performance. The course covers applications including generative design, AI-enhanced Building Information Modeling (BIM), predictive analytics, automated code compliance, and digital twins.

Emphasis is placed on ethical implementation, professional accountability, and data-informed decision-making. Drawing on research and guidance from leading organizations such as the American Institute of Architects (AIA), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS), and International Energy Agency (IEA), this course prepares architects to lead in an era of intelligent, performance-driven, and responsible design.
