This course presents an in-depth look at how a performance-based, design-build contract process was used by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory to design and construct one of the most “user friendly”,energy-efficient office buildings in the world. The Research Support Facility is a showcase for sustainability.
The building’s high-performance design incorporates the best in energy efficiency, environmental performance, and advanced control systems; using a occupant centric,” whole building” integrated design process in order to achieve the project’s Net Zero Energy goal.
