The Modular Option
2 HSW Credit Hours
This course explores the advantages of using creatively designed “factory assembled” units to deliver a vacation home project. The course introduces design professionals to some of the advantages of prefabricated housing vs. homes built using traditional “stick-built” construction. It reviews how modular construction is regulated at the state level. Although state regulatory policies will differ, this project is located in a state where local inspections are very limited which would be considered in the design and construction documentation. The case study presents the modular approach the Architect had in mind and how being “factory built” contributed to making the project successful.
