ADA – Business Friendly
2 HSW Credit Hours
This course takes a broad look at the accessibility requirements for a small business owner preparing to adding-on, remodel their existing facility or build a new commercial building. In addressing the ADA, Architects primarily focus on ensuring the physical environment is barrier-free, meeting the access needs of the disabled. But, if the Architect is knowledgeable of the broader ADA requirements that must be met by a business owner, including the ADA architectural standards as well as the compliance of businesses normal policies, practices, or procedures, the Architect can better serve their client. With this broader knowledge, the Architect can ensure the business owner will avoid regulatory compliance problems and, even more importantly, improve the business’s ability to serve the needs of the estimated 50 million Americans with disabilities.
